Station choreography for a 5-person dive team: C5 photo quadrat (2), FVC (1), recruits (1), and dive master/safety diver (1).
Each numbered tick mark in the panel represents about 5 minutes of underwater time. The choreography ensures divers can complete their main survey tasks, do additional tasks, and optimize their time underwater.
The first to descend is the first sub-team consisting of the DM, FVC, and PQ1. The remaining members, i.e., PQ2 and REC, will follow after about 10 minutes. This will ensure that crowding is minimized underwater.
Dive team members will be responsible for the equipment to be used for their assigned tasks (e.g., cameras, slateboards, transect lines, monopod/tetrapod, station marker). Those assigned to lay transects will leave heavy equipment or those that could create drag and slow them down, near the start of T1 and later retrieve them. The T1 is the last transect to be reeled-in.
