Not the Star Wars movie…;)
This day (Sept. 23, 2011) was the last day of my stay at Miller’s room at Home Fabiola (kamer nummer 236). I stayed here since I arrived in Belgium from my vacation in the Philippines.
After I signed the contract between the tenant (me) and the landlord (UGent Student Housing Representative), I got my brand new badge (access card) for the entrance of Home Astrid and the key to my new room (kamer) 343.
Transferring to a new studentenhuis (student house) was really difficult. Before I left for the summer vacation, I transferred all of my things from Studentenhuis Nieuwelaan which is located in Brussels to Home Vermeylen in Ghent. But of course, I had a little help from Miller. He was leaving for China at that time for his internship, and lucky me— I was going home! All went well, despite the many transfers we had— from tram-metro-train-bus.
Today, I had help from my cousin Vincent and Miller in transferring my things from Fabiola to Astrid. I called a taxi and travelled from Stalhof. About 10 or so minutes pass by, and we’re in Krijslaan with my things (and my fridge) in the minivan. The driver charged 19.8 euros for the minivan— expensive huh?!
So finally, I’m in my new room! It was smaller than what I had in Brussels. But I had nothing to complain though ‘coz I liked it. It was perfect for me. Another thing—luckily, just 2 doors away from my room is Ate Eda’s room— finally I have someone to chat with in our dialect Bisaya.
After I arranged my stuff in my new room, I paused for a while and had a short rest. Then, I remembered the promise I made to myself to be better this time, given this new environment and given this new chance.
